With Russia hardly looking to hang back, the game was exciting right from kick off. Though 4 goals were hammered in, Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was quite impressive. They had some unlucky moments with the post and Pavluchenko who eventually scored their lone goal was good to watch. It’s quite unfortunate that Pogrebnyak’s injury and Arshavin’s ban for two games following a red card in Russia’s final qualifier has prevented the best squad from hitting the field.
And yes, Fabregas came in for the last 20 minutes and scored a goal, despite his temperament.
