Watch Germany 0-1 Spain highlights from the 2008 Euro Final. Spain are Euro 2008 Champions. Finally.
Fernando Torres scored the only goal that mattered eventually during Euro 2008 off a combined mistake by Lahm and Lehmann, which saw Lahm being oddly taken off before the start of the 2nd half. Cesc Fabregas did get to start today, which disproves a thought I had recently that his substitutioned appearance was a superstitious ritual by Aragones. In hindsight it doesn’t matter, I suppose, now that Spain has won, but hopefully in future, Cesc starts for every team he plays in. Today was his most insipid performance at Euro, though. Lots of close chances by both teams, but Spain overall, played the better game and looked like coming close to a 2nd and more goals more realistically than Germany.
Prematch: With David Villa out with the thigh injury sustained during the 1st half vs Russia, we’ll get to see if Cesc Fabregas starts and whether him being kept out of the starting 11 has anything to do with Aragones’ superstitious traits.
