Villarreal dominated the 1st half and took an early lead through a super Senna strike. Fabianski coming in for injured Almunia staved off a couple of nervy moments before Fabregas attempted a cheeky free kick going into the break but only earned a yellow for his efforts. Arsenal were more dominant in the 2nd half and despite the entry of Robert Pires late in the 2nd half, the slump in Villarreal’s play hardly saw him get any serious opportunity. Fabregas looked around 50% himself but that was good enough to supply a long ball for Adebayor to pull off a spectacular finish.
