Arsenal vs Roma Highlights Penalties 2nd Leg

Normal + Extra Time

Penalties

Score: Roma 1-0 Arsenal. Aggregate 1-1. Gunners win on penalties 7-6.
Watch a Juan goal and highlights including penalties (complete) from Arsenal vs Roma in the 2nd Leg of the Round of 16 – UEFA Champions League.

The highlights from regular play kick off with the breakdown of the Arsenal defence in the 1st half – first the Juan goal, then a desperate Almunia save followed by a penalty claim by Roma for a Clichy-Motta clash. As evident from the highlights, the 90 minutes of play did produce serious chances only for Roma apart from a great opportunity for Toure to prevent the game going into extra time and penalties. Roma would however probably rue the missed Baptista chance – Totti had a pretty good game as did Riise. To Arsenal’s credit the 2nd half onwards saw some better defensive work, but some of their key players were off-colour while Bendtner was once again on-colour with threatening moves that sputtered out soon after they’d begun.

With penalties going into sudden-death, watching both the goalies under severe stress moving about like they had chunks of lead strapped to their ankles, you got the feeling that this would go on and on until one side sent it wide or above. And that’s what eventually happened with Roma’s Tonetto sending it high.

Despite this close shave, I’m backing Arsenal or Barcelona to win this year’s Champions League.
