It was blistering football from Arsenal from the start which was returned in kind by Fenerbahce for a while. Arsenal were without Gallas, Sagna and Toure and captain Almunia was required on a couple of occasions to keep his head amidst some pretty intense forward-charge by Guiza in particular who for the most part found himself a lone ranger at the front. Fenerbahce got themselves into several offside positions and couldn’t take advantage of the lacklustre Arsenal defending. Silvestre had an own goal credit, but Arsenal at its attacking best was on display especially through the 1st half – look out for a threaded-ball by Fabregas that resulted in the 1st goal by Adebayor. Brilliant.
